It is difficult to truly understand the complexities of the first responder lifestyle without living it, and our FLOW program director has done this as both a law enforcement leader and a law enforcement spouse. In addition to holding a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW), Amy Lutz brings the wisdom of a thirteen-year law enforcement career with a wealth of specialized service experience to include:

▪ Team Leader, Special Response Team (SRT/SWAT)
▪ Team Leader, Negotiators
▪ Sergeant, Internal Affairs and Uniformed Services
▪ Investigator, Larcenies and Special Victims Unit (SVU)
▪ Undercover, Narcotics
She was awarded the Medal of Valor in 2011 and earned medals in competitive swimming while representing her department in the 2009 and 2011 World Police and Fire Games. In 2012, she was one of only eight elite officers chosen to participate in SEALFIT, a grueling 50-hour test of physical and mental endurance.
Being married to a Lieutenant who also worked in law enforcement has given her a firsthand appreciation of the difficulty of balancing career and family in the face of shift work, conflicting schedules, and cumulative job stressors. She knows the importance of self care and moving beyond the first responders’ culture of silence in order to remain healthy and productive in this career.
